Are professional whitening kits different from over-the-counter products?
Yes. Professional in-office whitening treatments use higher concentrations of active ingredients than those found in drugstore products. This allows for deeper stain removal and faster, more predictable results under orthodontist supervision.
Can I whiten my teeth while wearing braces or Invisalign® treatment?
No. Teeth whitening should be performed either before you begin orthodontic care or after your treatment is complete. We do not administer whitening treatments to patients currently in active treatment with braces or Invisalign aligners to ensure an even result across the entire tooth surface.

How often can I have my teeth whitened?
Because of the strength of our professional-grade formula, we recommend waiting at least 6 months between in-office treatments. You may use your provided maintenance kit to touch up your results between visits.
Is teeth whitening safe for children and teenagers?
We offer professional whitening treatments for patients aged 14 and older. During a consultation, Dr. Dunn will evaluate your teen’s enamel health to determine if they are a suitable candidate for the procedure.
What is the recommended aftercare for whitening?
To protect your results, you should follow a "white shirt diet" for 48 hours after treatment. Avoid any foods or drinks that would stain a white t-shirt, such as coffee, red wine, or dark berries, while your enamel is most porous.
What kind of results can I expect?
This system is designed to be significantly more potent than standard retail whitening strips. While individual results vary based on age and the cause of staining, most patients see an improvement after 1 session.
Will the whitening treatment cause tooth sensitivity?
ILLUME X GLO PRO POWER is specifically formulated to be sensitivity-free. While some temporary minor discomfort can occur, the vast majority of our patients report a comfortable, pain-free experience.
